Sri. P. K. Jha, I.F.S, Prl. Chief Conservator of Forests (HoFF), T.S., laid the foundation stone for the construction of new aviary at the Parrot World area. The new aviary is being erected with large enclosures the parrot world for the display of various types of birds like Macaws, Parrots, Parakeets, Budgerigar, Love Birds and cockatoos etc and also released a pair of Giraffe into the enclosure for public display which were brought from Alipore Zoo, Kolkatta on animal exchange programme. |

Sri. A. Indrakaran Reddy, Hon’ble Minister for EFS&T, Endowments and Law, T.S., visited Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad on 03.06.2019. The Hon’ble Minister released a pair of African Lion cubs, into the enclosure for the public display at Lion moat area, Ostrich chicks in Ostrich enclosure, Walkthrough aviary inaugurated at Stork enclosure and Duck pond enclosure. The Hon’ble Minister and Sri. Ajay Misra, I.A.S Special Chief Secretary, EFS&T Dept., Telangana State, Hyderabad along with Sri. P.K. Jha, I.F.S., Prl. Chief Conservator of Forests (HoFF), T.S., Forest officials and Zoo officials took a round of the zoo and appreciated the maintenance and upkeep of the zoo. Later. The Hon’ble Minister and Special Chief Secretary, EFS&T Dept, Telangana, Hyderabad and all other members planted trees. The 8th Zoo’s and Park’s Authority of Telangana annual meeting held at the meeting hall of the Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad. The committee approved the developmental works proposed to be taken up in 2019 – 20. |

Under green initiative, the Dell company, Hyderabad who are into programming the software solutions have taken up intensive planting in the premises of Nehru Zoological park, Hyderabad in coordination with Zoo Authorities and with the help of Learning Links Foundation, Hyderabad. More than 3000 saplings of fruit bearing, flowering and shaded trees have been planted at different locations in Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, as a part of the CSR activity. |

65th Vanya Prani Saptah and 56th Zoo Day was celebrated at Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad. On this occasion, the Chief Guest Dr. S.K. Joshi, I.A.S, Chief Secretary, Government of Telangana and Sri Rajeshwar Tiwari, I.A.S, Special Chief Secretary, EFS & T Department, Telangana, Hyderabad visited Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad Smt. R. Shoba, I.F.S., Prl. Chief Conservator of Forests (HoFF) & Chief Wildlife Warden, Telanagana, Sri. Munindra, Prl. Chief Conservator of Forests (Admin) and Sri A. V. Joseph, IFS, (Retd) Prl. Chief Conservator of Forests released a pair of Lion Tailed Macaque into the enclosure for the public display. These animals were brought from Vandaluru Zoo, Chennai as a part of animal exchange programme. Later, the Chief Secretary along with the Special Chief Secretary and Zoo Officials inaugurated the renovated Butterfly Park. This open butterfly park is first in its kind in India and housing more than (35) species of butterflies. Dr. Sidhanand Kukrety, I.F.S., Addl. Prl. Chief Conservator of Forests/ C.F & Director Zoo Parks, Hyderabad and Smt. N. Kshitija, I.F.S., Curator, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad welcomed the dignitaries on the dais, felicitated to the Major donors to the zoo. Sri. O. P. Mishra, Chief General Manager, State Bank of India, Hyderabad Circle, Hyderabad and Sri. Charan, MD, Varsity Educational Institutes, Hyd. and also felicitated to Sri. A. V. Joseph, I.F.S., (Retd) for his major contribution in developing the zoo. Royal Admin, Roaring Lions, Green Warriors and Zoo Corps were (4) teams in the Zoo participated in the various sports events like Cricket, Kabaddi, Tennikoit, Chess, Carroms, Badminton, Tug of War, Musical Chairs, Lemon & Spoon etc., The Chief Secretary, The Spl. Chief Secretary and PCCF distributed the prizes to the winners. |

COP – 13 Summit (15th – 22nd, Feb, 2020) Held at Gandhinagar, Gujarat:
Telangana Forest Department showcased its success stories at the 13th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS- COP13) together with the associated meetings of the standing Committee held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat from 15th -22nd February-2020.
The theme of the convention was ‘Migratory species connect the planet and together we welcome them home’.
The Telangana Forest Department Screened and exhibited the success of Mouse Deer Conservation Breeding and reintroduction in the Wild by Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad. Long Billed Vulture conservation programme in Kumaram Bheem, Asifabad Dist, Conservation and the diversity of Manjeera Wildlife Sanctuary, Sangareddy, Telangana State were also showcased in the meeting.
Sri. Prakash Javdekar, Honble Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, Sri. Babul Supriya, Honble Minster of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Sri Vijay Rupani, Chief Minister of Gujarat, Sri K. Raju, Minister of Forests, Kerala, Chief Wildlife Wardens of Various states, heads of different National and International organisations, visited the stall organised by Telangana Forest Department.
In a side event organised by Central Zoo Authority, New Delhi, the success story of Mouse Deer conservation breeding and reintroduction in wild was presented by Dr. Sidhanand Kukrety, I.F.S., Director, Nehru Zoological Park, as it is one of the few most successful breeding programmes initiated by Central Zoo Authority. The programme also won many accolades from delegates across the world.
